American Red Cross in need of Blood Donors, Next Drive at Kroger in Mount Vernon Friday

“The American Red Cross has issued an emergency appeal for all blood types. Due to the summer holidays and vacations, we have experienced a critical shortage of donors at our drives. Please take the time to donate! It only takes about an hour and can save up to 3 lives and we have many opportunities for you. The next local blood drive is Friday, July 13, at Kroger on Coshocton Ave, from 1-6. There are also several blood drives on Tuesday, July 17,  in the county, including Gay Street UMC in Mt Vernon and St Luke’s Church in Danville. Also on Thursday, July 19, the Red Cross will be at the Moose Lodge for our monthly community blood drive from 10-4.

Please use the Blood Donor App, visit or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to schedule a blood donation appointment now. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements. Thanks for being a donor!”
