On October 14, 2018 Interchurch Social Services of Knox County (ISS) will celebrate 50 years of service to our area. We send this early communication so you can save the date and begin making plans for your congregation’s participation in this significant event. Plans are being made for a 4:00 pm Service of Worship Celebration at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mount Vernon followed by a dinner and program in the Catholic school gymnasium.
Congregations will have a number of ways to participate:
A mass choir is planned and we hope interested persons from your congregation will
participate. More details will be released as final plans and rehearsals are set.
Some congregations are making plans to create a banner to represent their involvement in supporting ISS across the years. We expect to include the banners in a processional at the 50th Anniversary celebration.
Clergy leaders are making plans to participate in the processional by wearing robes and
red stoles. If wearing a robe is not your practice, we encourage you to participate in the
processional. Some congregations are planning to dress in red to celebrate the day.
Congregational leaders, including mission or outreach officers, board chairs and other
congregational leaders are invited to participate and be recognized for your continuing
ISS current and past board members and volunteers, past and present, are encouraged
to attend and be recognized for their service.
It is hoped that supporting congregations will use this information in bulletin inserts,
church newsletters and in other communications so that members are invited and can
reserve this date. Please copy and share this letter with interested members.
Volunteer coordinator for the event is Rev. Mearle Griffith. Should you have any questions he can be contacted at 937-903- 0912 or email@example.com. We hope you share our enthusiasm as we provide Knox County residents with an opportunity learn more of our services, help us celebrate 50 years of ministry and launch our plans for the future.
