Knox County Community Health Center to hold Patient Appreciation Day

The Knox County Community Health Center will kick off National Health Center
Week with a Patient Appreciation Day on Aug. 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event
is free and open to the public.
The Knox County Community Health Center is housed inside the Knox County
Health Department, located at the corner of Upper Gilchrist and Coshocton roads,
just up the road from Wal-Mart.
Activities for Patient Appreciation Day include free medical and dental screenings,
T-shirts for children and adults for the first 50 attendees, a scavenger hunt, give-
aways and a free lunch for the first 200 attendees. Lunch will feature a cookout
with Chef Paul Higgins that will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Additionally, local law enforcement and first-responders will be on hand with their
vehicles to kick-off the Labor Day traffic safety campaign, “Drive Sober or Get
Pulled Over.” Local residents are invited to “touch-a-truck” and meet the personnel
who protect and serve our community.
Patient Appreciation Day is part of a national campaign to raise awareness about
the mission and accomplishments of America’s health centers and the dedicated
staff who bring health care to the medically underserved. This year’s theme
celebrates healthcare heroes. Many of the health center’s staff will be dressed with
super hero capes to promote the national theme.

“This is a time for community members to meet their local healthcare heroes and
learn more about the Health Center,” said Health Center CEO Lane Belangia.
“Thousands of local residents have been served by the Center since it opened a
little over a year ago. Everyone, whether you have been here before or just want to
see what we do, is invited to attend.”
The Knox County Community Health Center first opened in April of 2017. It is
funded by a renewable grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services (HRSA). The Center’s purpose is to offer needed access to healthcare
services to improve health outcomes for Knox County residents and others in
adjacent counties. Medical, dental and behavioral health services are available to
patients of all ages and income levels.
