Knox County Distinguished Young Women Program Ends

Below is a news release from the Knox County Junior Miss Inc in reference to the DYW Knox County Program:

Knox County Distinguished Young Women Scholarship Program
We are sorry to say that the Board of Directors and committee of Distinguished Young Women of Knox
County have voted to discontinue the local program here in Knox County. This decision does not come
easily and weighs heavily on our hearts. Due to recent changes by the State Program, continual
reduction in participation, and the cost of running such a program it was decided to cease operations.
We will honor all of our existing financial obligations to past participants and category winners. Those
scholarship recipients will need to request their funds prior to 12/31/2021 which is when our books will
be closed and all remaining funds donated to the Community Foundation of Knox County. All local young

ladies that want to participate will be able to do so through the Distinguished Young Women of Ohio at-
large program. We will assist those young ladies get registered and with any questions or concerns they

may have.
We would like to thank all of our past sponsors, volunteers, participants, parents we have had an
amazing time over the last 54 years. Thousands of dollars have be raised and awarded to the
outstanding young women of Knox County.
Those interested in participating at the At-large may register at http://distinguishedyw.org/ and may
contact the State chairperson Wendy Nuspl mailto:ohio@distinguishedyw.org The deadline to apply for
the At-large program is September 4, 2018.
