Knox County Symphony to present Winter Concert

The Knox County Symphony, conducted by Professor of Music Benjamin Locke, will present its annual Winter Concert on Saturday, Feb.  10 at 8 p.m. in Rosse Hall Auditorium on the Kenyon College Campus in Gambier.

This concert is bookended with “pirated” music — namely, Arthur Sullivan’s overture to the operetta “The Pirates of Penzance” and Klaus Badelt’s theme music for the movie “Pirates of the Caribbean.”  In between, the concert features the winners of the Young Musicians Competition held in October. The winners this year are Isaac Che (piano), Daniel Pastor (piano), James Finley (viola) and Leah Dunbar (marimba).

The Young Musicians Competition is co-sponsored by the Psi Iota Xi Sorority. The sorority will also be providing a themed reception following the concert.

Tickets are available at the door ($10 adult, $7 senior citizen, $5 student) or by calling Sarah Goslee Reed at 740-392-4955.
