MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – Mount Vernon Nazarene University Athletics is pleased to announce the addition of Melissa Nowicki to the Cheerleading coaching staff, beginning in the Fall of 2018.
Nowicki has been brought on to lead the team for sideline cheer and also work alongside Jill Macklin, who has been the Head Cheer Coach at MVNU for the past 27 years and will now serve as the Head Coach for MVNU’s newest varsity sport, competitive cheerleading.
Nowicki (maiden name Keiser) is a 2013 graduate of MVNU and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Psychology and Sociology while also participating in cheerleading under the direction of Coach Macklin and cross country for Head Coach Chip Wilson. She went on to earn a Master of Education degree in School Counseling from Bowling Green State University, and currently serves as a school counselor for kindergarten through eighth grade with the Danville school system.
Nowicki’s vast experience in cheerleading is highlighted by her latest role from October 2016 to June 2018 at Danville High School, where she served as the Varsity Cheerleading Coach.
“I’m so thankful for the opportunity to coach cheerleading at MVNU,” expressed Nowicki.
“I loved cheering and running cross country at MVNU as a student and I am honored to now serve as a coach. I am excited for the expansion of the cheerleading program with the addition of competitive cheer. I look forward to upholding traditions of MVNU cheerleading and creating an exciting game day experience as we cheer on the Cougars!”
