Hinckley Ohio is not what most call a hot bed for NASCAR stars, unless your name is Matt Tifft. The driver for Richard Childress Racing is in his first year with the long time Chevy team after starting his career with Joe Gibbs Racing. Tifft has had a fast rise to the upper levels of NASCAR, after starting in go-karts in 2007, but a back injury in 2016 ended up finding a tumor in Tifft’s brain which was succesfully removed, but cost him time in the car for 16 races through the middle of the season. Tifft returned for the end of the year and then a strong run in 2017 put him in the NASCAR Xfinity playoffs and a chance at a championship.
2018 is a new year, and with a new team, Tifft makes a charge towards a championship.
Our own Steve Conley spoke with Matt Tifft during NASCAR Xfinity Series media day.
